Kathy Quick Anderson was born on the East Coast. She started drawing at age 5, and won many awards in school. Kathy and her family moved to Arizona when she was a child. Living in the northern Arizona town of Show Low where she rode horses with friends whose ancestors were pioneers and ranchers. Frequent trips around the West early in life helped her develop a love of the land, the rocks, mountains, forests and canyons, that she saw. She has spent a lifetime immersing herself in the beauty of the American West.
An early mentor was Jay Datus, founder of the Kachina School of Art in Phoenix, whose many murals still grace some of Arizona’s historic buildings and terminals. After a Roy Andersen color workshop in 1999 and a shift to full time painting, she started exhibiting and winning awards in Phoenix and other Valley city shows and museums.
Kathy is represented in Prescott by the Mountain Spirit Gallery on historic Whiskey Row. She exhibits yearly in the Phippen Museum Mini Masterpiece Show and Sale, the Memorial Day Phippen Western Art Show on Courthouse Square, and has participated in many of the shows at the Phippen Museum and the Sharlot Hall Arizona Centennial Art Show.
