Watercolors, Wildlife, & Western Art from Ron Dotson
I am primarily a self-taught artist. I have been drawing since I was a child and worked in pen and ink, charcoal, and colored pencil before picking up watercolors. I have honed my skills with workshops, tips from other artists, and lots of painting. Although I primarily paint wildlife, I also do animal portrait commissions and some western work. I am a signature member of the Artists for Conservation, a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, and the San Diego Visual Arts Guild.
I think that the general populace have lost touch with nature to the increased urbanization of our society. Through my paintings I hope to depict the beauty of animals and their habitat and increase the appreciation of the general public for both, thus helping to preserve them. Although art is to be enjoyed it can also server to educate.
Some of my paintings are available as limited edition, signed and numbered Giclee’ prints as well as printed on the front of note cards which are blank inside.
I am happy to undertake commissions to portray either one of your animals, or a particular wild animal that you would like to have painted. Please feel free to contact the gallery in order to discuss any such possibility.
