Dave Hanson was born in West Central Minnesota. After serving in the Air Force, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked in a construction related business.
In 1986 he sold his business and moved to Prescott, Arizona. To fight the boredom of a cold, wet winter, Dave’s friend suggested grabbing a hunk of clay. Just a lump of clay and using it like a stress ball to keep his hands busy; kneading and working the clay in his hands to relieve his stress. Before he knew it, Dave took that hunk of stress relief and turned it into a cowboy. Then he made a burro….and a campfire. Dave had done some drawing in the past but had never tried sculpting before. His sculpting was a success and Dave’s been sculpting and creating southwest style bronzes ever since.
The first piece he entered in a VA show placed third in the national competition.
Dave continues to complete a limited number of sculptures which are in private collections throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
